If you have been issued a license or identification card (ID card) in person anytime since January 1, 2010, you should be Real ID compliant.

The easiest way to check for Real ID compliance is to look for the gold star in the upper right corner of your most current license or ID card. 

If you are a Real ID compliant U.S. Citizen or U.S Permanent Resident with a Florida credential, you do not have to present any documents unless you have changed your information (name, address, or immigration/citizenship status.) 

If you are changing information, you will need to bring the associated required documentation when you visit our office. For example, a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent resident who is already Real ID compliant but needs to change his or her address, will need to bring in two acceptable proofs of address. No primary identification document or proof of social security would be required because no changes are being made in those categories.

If you have a pending or temporary US immigration status (anyone who is not a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident), you must bring current USCIS immigration documents each time you visit an office for driver license, testing, or ID card services.

Important Notes:

• If you have completed a Florida driver license or ID address change online, you must bring 2 proofs of address to be scanned at your next office visit.
• Real ID compliance does not transfer from one state to another.  For example, if you are Real ID compliant in Ohio and wish to obtain a Florida driver license, you must bring all the required documentation when you visit our office because we do not have access to review documents provided in the previous state.
