LEE COUNTY, Fla. (June 10, 2026) – The Lee County Tax Collector’s Office will close its North Fort Myers service center on July 31, 2026, as preparations continue for the future opening of the agency’s new Colonial Service Center in late 2026.
The North Fort Myers facility lease is set to expire in August 2027. Since a move would eventually be necessary, the agency is taking advantage of the time before the Colonial office opens to prepare equipment, technology, and other resources for the future location.
By planning ahead and reusing existing equipment and furnishings, the agency can reduce unnecessary costs and make the best use of taxpayer resources.
“This is a practical decision that allows us to make the best use of the resources we already have,” said Noelle Branning, Lee County Tax Collector. “Since we knew we would eventually need to leave the current location, this approach gives us time to transition equipment and technology in an organized way, reduce unnecessary costs, and continue focusing on what matters most: serving our customers.”
Customers will continue to have access to services at the North Fort Myers office through the end of July, and then at one of the other five service centers throughout Lee County. No services or positions are being eliminated as part of this change.
Additional updates about the Colonial Service Center will be shared in the coming months.
